About Me

My name is Hannah Shea and I'm from Maryland. I have a B.A. from NC State University, where I majored in communication media and minored in statistics. My statistics classes sparked my interest in data analytics, where I enjoyed doing statistical tests and using SAS to manipulate data. I also completed a data analysis project for my Quantitative Communication Research Methods class which I enjoyed.
After graduating from NCSU, I originally chose to pursue UX design as a career. I enrolled in a UX design bootcamp which I started during my last semester of college, and finished 7 months after graduating. I enjoyed designing, but I also enjoyed the data analysis that came with it. For each project, I started by conducting research in the form of user interviews. After designing, I would conduct usability testing to assess my designs. I enjoyed the process of analyzing the data from each of these research methods to decide where to take the design.
I decided to consider data analytics as an option, and completed the Google Data Analytics Career Certificate. I enjoyed completing the course and working on my capstone project, which made me realize that data analytics is something I enjoy and would like to pursue a career in. I was able to understand Excel and SQL pretty quickly, which I realized have overlap with SAS. I had also used R in another statistics class which provided me with a foundation in it. My design experience is something I believe will be helpful in creating data visualizations. I have additionally worked as a digital marketing intern, UX design intern, and administrative assistant which provided me with applicable skills including communicating, presenting, receiving feedback, and working with others.
Aside from data analytics, I enjoy photography, fitness, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
I look forward to continuing to analyze data and learning more to expand my skills.
